A NSW family were all in for a major renovation when they found a rough Art Deco diamond at the end of a long drive

Located minutes from Wollongong’s beautiful coastline is this sun-drenched Art Deco home, tucked away at the end of a long driveway. With ocean views and a northerly aspect, the Illawarra property is a beach-lover’s dream. So, when Dane and Zoe Cartwright, owners of local construction company Projection Build, discovered this little slice of private paradise in 2015, they seized the opportunity to create their ideal family home. “There was so much potential in the home as strong foundations had already been laid,” says Zoe. “With its lavish 1930s proportions, curved brick facade and balcony, high ceilings and swimming pool, it was the perfect starting point for our dream renovation.” Construction work on the home began in January 2019, with a view to celebrating the original features while reshaping it into…
