My Father (David Short, aka The Book Man) and I have been working side by side since I was 12, and full time for the past 24 years. He’s our resident ‘mad professor’ with great bushy eyebrows, a signature capsule wardrobe (denim jeans and shirts, and handmade colourful sweaters), and a penchant for strange books, coffee and pastries. He is our main used book scout, and has a special desk where he goes through all of the books that he’s found removing old labels and markings, repairing broken bindings, and ensuring that each book…
