Tom Porter has built seven cars in eleven years, so you can bet he’s knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Tom calls this seventh effort “Dodge Fever.” Small wonder; it’s a ’22 Dodge roadster body powered by a smokin’ 340-cubic-inch Dodge mill. The powerplant was built by Jim Dawson Racing Engines and features a Racer Brown 22-ST cam, Mondello-modified heads with Chevy exhaust valves and dual springs. Four Weber carbs perch on a hand-fabricated manifold. The headers are also handmade. A ’69 TorqueFlite trans was modified by B&M to provide manual shifting. Power goes through a Dodge third member geared 4.56:1 and narrowed by Henry’s Machine Works. Tom laid out a pair of 2-x 4-inch boxed channel frame rails for a 96-inch wheelbase.
