This year’s Super Stock Nationals was made up of one part Bill Jenkins, one part Charlie Castaldo, one part Frank Iaconio, one part Bruce Larson, and one part Tom “Smoker” Smith. The 31,700 enthusiastic spectators witnessed virtually hundreds of strong competitors make one quarter-mile run after another during the three days of racing. However, before York US 30’s guest announcer, Jon “The Voice” Lundberg, called the shots on the final run of the meet, many stories unraveled. Bill Jenkins, otherwise known as “da Grump,” actually won the heads-up Super Stock Eliminator with little effort. At least it seemed that way when on occasion he would literally wait for the green and drive around his competition.
