A bill recently introduced in the California Senate would have outlawed the sale of new cars equipped with internal combustion engines in the state of California in 1975. It was a bill that apparently hadn’t had much advance publicity, because it came as a great shock to people when they heard that it was on its way to the House of Representatives for review there. Fortunately the bill died in committee and everything is all right … for now. It almost staggers the imagination to try to predict what the far-reaching effects a law such as this would have on the public.
