Almost a century after the facts, the author reclaims his grandfather's story in the extermination camps, a most traumatic experience he never wanted to share with those closest to him. In spite of surviving Terezin, Auschwitz, and Meuselwitz, Heinz Salinger never got over the horrors he experienced. This story of courage and survival takes us from the days of harassment and discrimination that Jews suffered in Czechoslovakia, to the miraculous escape and liberation, after which Salinger left for Chile. And even though he started a family and tried to rebuild his life, the ghosts of those who couldn't escape haunted him forever. A book written by his grandson, inviting us to honor the victims and restore their memory.
