Novena película de Quentin Tarantino que, como él mismo se ha encargado de difundir, es la penúltima de su carrera. En todo caso sería una pena que el autor de Reservoir Dogs, Pulp fiction, Kill Bill, Django desencadenado y las otras cuatro que faltan, cumpliera su palabra. De cualquier manera, esta es como definitiva porque es una especial declaración de amor al cine. Podrá hacer una o más películas o pasarse al negocio de las series o fichar por Netflix, pero lo más parecido al cine que puede hacer ya lo ha hecho. Dice Tarantino que esta es su Roma –la película de Cuarón–, y es verdad que coinciden en el aspecto sentimental, pero el mejicano es el propio protagonista de su historia y su película, y Tarantino relata sus sueños…
