LA UTILIZACIÓN POLÍTICA DEL TERREMOTO DE 1812

Una de las grandes tragedias que sufrió Venezuela en el siglo XVII fue el terremoto de San Bernabé, que el 11 de junio de 1641 destruyó gran parte de las edificaciones de Caracas y generó un gran número de enfermedades que diezmaron a la población. Más de un siglo y medio después, el Jueves Santo de 1812, otro seísmo acabó con la vida de miles de personas y, en el contexto de la independencia, el drama no tardó en ser utilizado políticamente.
