HAY QUE TENER EN CUENTA QUE UNA CALCULADORA DE LA ÉPOCA NADA TENÍA QUE VER CON LO QUE HOY CONOCEMOS COMO TAL Curt Herzstark nació en Viena en 1902 y falleció en el Principado de Liechtenstein en 1988. Su padre, Samuel Jacob Herzstark, fue un apasionado de la tecnología que había fundado una empresa de máquinas calculadoras mecánicas en la Viena de 1906. La compañía, Rechenmaschinenwerk Austria Herzstark & Co., fue el lugar en el que Curt, desde muy temprano, desarrolló su talento como ingeniero mecánico. Hacia 1938, siendo ya director técnico de la empresa, había diseñado lo que iba a ser una calculadora mecánica de bolsillo llamada a revolucionar el mundo de la técnica.
