Inédita hasta la fecha en castellano, la novela se abre con una reflexión de la autora, fechada en marzo de 1939, sobre la "entrega" de Madrid, cuando la bandera de la España nacional ondeó en el edificio más alto de la capital, sede de la oficina de prensa extranjera y propaganda del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores.
