MICHIGAN SURPASSES CALIFORNIA IN CANNABIS PRODUCT SALES

Data shows that California’s legal cannabis industry isn’t doing as well as expected.

AS INITIALLY REPORTED BY SFGATE, MICHIGAN SOLD more cannabis products than California—the longtime leader in legal cannabis sales—last March. SFGATE reports that according to analysis from the cannabis analytics firm BDSA, “Michigan sold 22 million cannabis products in March, while California only sold 21.3 million products.” With California and its large population, recent data shows that it has sold a record low in terms of units of cannabis products as well. During the month of May 2024 the analytics firm Headset reported, California sold 17 million units, compared to Michigan which sold 25 million units.
