Idaho Industrial Hemp Production Doubles

Hemp production is booming in Idaho, where ironically, marijuana-derived CBD and full-spectrum CBD with any traces of THC are banned. The Idaho Farm Bureau Federation released data on May 31, showing an increase in hemp cultivation in the state for last year. During 2023, farmers planted 1,273 acres of hemp, which is a massive increase from the 459 acres cultivated in 2022. Idaho was the 50th state in the U.S. to legalize the production and cultivation of hemp after Gov. Brad Little signed House Bill 126 in April 2021. A majority of Idaho hemp is grown in south central Idaho.
