CITY HUNTER Commissioned by Phoebe Philo for Céline’s spring/summer 2017 show, an S-shaped glass pavilion by American artist Dan Graham cut through the centre of the Tennis Club de Paris like a metallic wave. “I wanted to see my collection cast through the kaleidoscope of Dan’s installation,” Philo explained. Philo’s designs for Céline resonate with women on both a practical and emotional front. So to see every hem and seam filtered through the reflective surface of Graham’s glass installation doubled the impact of purpose-filled clothes that put the real-life needs of women at the forefront.
