I’ll never forget that episode of Sex and the City when Carrie Bradshaw turns up for her first day at work in a pinstripe skirt suit by Vivienne Westwood. Never mind that the day soon went sideways and she got fabulously drunk thereafter. The second she appeared on screen in that delicious off-kilter number, she looked confident, strong and thoroughly empowered.
