That bra strap on the cover said everything to me about this season’s fashion. In bold type, it was like an ode from Christy Turlington Burns to the world. A declaration of one’s passion for a storied 70-year-old French brand. At the same time, it was an ironic nod to the bra-burning days of the ’60s. How apt that the new artistic director for Dior is a woman—the first time in the House’s history. When I spoke to Maria Grazia Chiuri in Paris the day after her first haute couture show, she was very candid about her take on the brand. Yes, she designs for women first and foremost. No, she doesn’t believe in the “see-now, buy-now” trend. Chiuri has, in just one season, caused a seismic shift in fashion.…
