WIZARDS’ TRICK-OR-TREAT CUPCAKES

The Halloween rhyme, “Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat” is only three-quarters true for this recipe! Red velvet cupcakes are filled with either chocolate or blue cheese! Have a treat ready for those that are unlucky enough to bite into a trick cupcake.

YOU WILL NEED (MAKES 12) FOR THE CAKES ● ½ cup (125 g) buttermilk● 1 tablespoon red liquid food coloring● ½ cup/1 stick (115 g) butter, softened● 1 cup (175 g) superfine sugar● ½ teaspoon vanilla extract● 1 extra large egg● 1⅔ cups (200 g) all-purpose flour● 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa● ½ teaspoon baking soda● 1½ teaspoons white wine vinegar FOR THE FILLING ● 1½ oz (40 g) blue cheese● 6 tablespoons chocolate spread FOR THE TOPPING ● 9 tablespoons (125 g) butter, softened● 2 cups (250 g) confectioners’ sugar● 1 tablespoon milk● Orange food coloring● Mini sugar-coated chocolates, sugar sprinkles, or Halloween cake toppers, to decorate 1.
