WITCHES’ FREAKY FINGERS

These freaky cheese straw fingers with pecan nails even have bloodstained ends to really give you the shivers! Don’t be too scared—it’s only ketchup.

YOU WILL NEED (MAKES 20) ● 1 cup (115 g) cheddar cheese● 1 cup, plus 2 tablespoons (140 g) all-purpose flour● 3 tablespoons (40 g) butter● Pinch of salt● ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper● 1 egg, beaten● 2 tablespoons olive oil● 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley● Tomato ketchup, for dipping● About 1⅓ cup (35 g) pecans 1. Grate the cheese. Put the flour, butter (cut into 3–4 pieces), salt, and pepper in a food processor and blend, using a pulsation action, until the mixture forms bread crumbs. Add the cheese and half of the egg and blend until combined. 2. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured counter and knead lightly together.
