Christmas 1956 Christmas 1956, Santa delivered some special presents to our home. He delivered our family's first black-and-white television (in the background in photo), and I received not one but two dolls, while my brother received the boy's toy of the time, a gun and holster set. That Christmas evening my brother decided the doll shown in my left hand needed a bath. It was made of sawdust, so when he put it in the bathtub, it soaked up water like a sponge, eventually disintegrating. I remember being inconsolable.
