Determined to dispel the myth that modern homes are bland and boring, Cotty Lee has injected both colour and character to every room

Cotty Lee and her husband Caine had spent 11 years in a contemporary apartment in Plymouth before being bitten by the moving bug. Needing to stay in the city, the couple considered various options, but eventually decided a new-build house would best suit their needs. ‘It was really lockdown that did it for me, as I suddenly desperately wanted more space and a garden,’ recalls Cotty. ‘We were looking for something low maintenance where everything was newly done, rather than an older property that would end up needing a lot of work to get it how we wanted it. We also thought that a modern home would be more energy efficient, which was a big plus as it would more likely be cheaper to run in the long term.’ A…
