It was a moment which would cement Brett Ogle’s place among Australia’s finest players. On a sunsoaked Sunday in 1994, the 29-year-old achieved a victory many would have thought improbable just a few days before. At the Hawaiian Open, held annually at the picturesque Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Ogle rallied from two strokes down on the final day to shoot 4-under 68 and finish 19 under par (269), winning by a single stroke over American Davis Love III. The win was particularly sweet for Ogle, as it came almost a year after his breakout victory at the 1993 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
