Last week the sun came out, and with it the insects. Bees were noisily making their presence felt and I saw several brimstone butterflies, both in the garden and in nearby hedgerows while out walking the dogs. While it was lovely to see nature in such abundance, I fear that any forthcoming cold snaps might catch them out. We can help, however, by giving them food sources throughout the year to fuel them up, and in this issue we look at ways in which we can do just that (see page 18). Anything we can plant that helps wildlife has to be a good thing and, let’s face it, we don’t need an excuse to get more plants in! Carol Klein writes in a similar vein on page 22, and…
