Game of Scones: The Cana Island Lighthouse Mystery
Is modern life poisoning your outlook? This series may be just the antidote you require. Live, laugh, and learn with the second generation. If you liked Rhi and Didi's sleuthing adventures, you will love this foray into crime solving by the younger generation. Rhi's youngest daughter Tabby and her BFF Krystal Morales (the punk rocker formerly known as Constance) are all grown up and rockin' it as two hilarious amateur sleuths in Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Wisconsin. The two former punk rockers and classic film buffs are nurses who keep getting involved in murders with a medical twist.
A death at Cana Island Lighthouse is deemed an accident by the police, but Tabby has her suspicions. She drags her unwilling friend Krystal into another sleuthing adventure which has plenty of suspects and a plot that twists and turns down the charming lanes and villages of Door County. Follow the dynamic duo through a hilarious series of events designed to keep the reader laughing and loving it.
Tabby and Krystal, two amateur detectives with an attitude, stumble through the Shakespearian morass of meddlers, villains, criminals, manipulators, and murderers as they hunt for the perpetrator. Many a red herring is dragged across the path before Tabby and Krystal arrive at the truth. As always, there is plenty of comic relief from Krystal's one liners and malapropisms. With Tabby's brains and Krystal's street smarts, they are bound to succeed eventually, if they don't wind up in the coroner's office themselves.
A cast of crazy characters will keep you laughing down to the last scene and the last twist on the final page. Also provided are some delicious Door County recipes for scones, cherry pies, and bakery. Don't worry. Tabby has chosen delicious and easy recipes for you because like her mother Rhiannon Nolan, Tabby does not spend time sweating over a hot stove. No way! There is too much life to be lived and too many adventures to be had in God's country, Door County, USA.
Welcome to the series that various readers have said is, "Brilliant, can't put down reading, entertaining, clever, witty, great, hysterical, laugh out loud funny, and everything a cozy mystery should be. Funnier than Lucille Ball. My sides hurt from laughing. Write faster! I can't wait for the next one!" "I can't stop reading it, but I don't want it to end!" is a quote from three fans of the series.
About the author: Kathy Buchen is the author of thirteen books and eleven novels in the Rhiannon Nolan cozy mystery series. She holds a degree in education and a Master's in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin. She worked for many years as a librarian near her hometown of Appleton, Wisconsin. She is the mother of two grown children who have provided her with a lot of material for her novels. She loves reading, long walks, biking, dogs, and writing. Now retired, she volunteers and goes out for long lunches with her BFFs. She grew up to be a librarian and write cozy mysteries because as a child, she read incessantly, her favorite game was Clue, and her favorite solution was Miss Scarlett in the library with the candlestick. Her novels have been used by local book clubs, and Death in a Pink Cadillac was the August, 2019 mystery novel for the AAUW Fox Cities Chapter book discussion. She has spoken at several local libraries and at two Fox Cities Book Festivals. Catch her on Facebook under Kathy Beson or Rhiannon Nolan Books, or at kathybuchenrhinolan.weebly.com.
