Finding Backyard Bugs

I’m a backyard bug hunter. I love exploring for bugs. Those small, fascinating creatures that crawl, jump, and fly are all around! One could be running across the sidewalk, hiding quietly in the grass, or sitting unseen on a leaf right in front of me. Bugs are not always easy to find. But when I see one, I’m excited! Most of the creatures I find on my bug-hunting adventures are insects. Insects have six legs, two antennae (pronounced an-teh-nee), one or two pairs of wings, and three body sections. An insect’s shape might change as it grows from a baby to an adult. For example, a caterpillar may someday turn into a beautiful butterfly or moth! Sometimes I see spiders.
