BAR-BARIANS Archæologists in Bulgaria were initially baffled by a splendid Romanera sarcophagus which turned up on a Black Sea beach. Made of local limestone, it was dated to the 2nd or 3rd century AD by its elaborate relief decorations, but experts were confused as to how it came to be on the beach.
