TALLEST AND SHORTEST To mark the publication of the 70th anniversary edition of the Guinness Book of Records – the first edition topped the British bestseller list at Christmas 1955 before going international the following year – Guinness World Records brought the world’s tallest and shortest women together to take tea at London’s Savoy Hotel. The tallest, Rumeysa Gelgi, 27, a researcher and web developer from Turkey, stands at two metres 15.16cm (7ft) while Jyoti Amge, 30, an actress from India, is only 62.8cm (2ft) tall. Gelgi owes her record height to Weavers Syndrome, a rare condition that causes accelerated growth and skeletal deformities.
