I an is a big Ford and Fordson fan and used to promote the company’s tractors as part of Ford’s demonstration team. “I spotted the job being advertised by Ford in Farmers Weekly,” he recalls. “One thing led to another, and the next thing I knew I was attending Ford’s training school at Boreham House in Chelmsford.” Ian then spent the next few years going round shows and Ford dealers demonstrating the new Pre-Force and Force tractors that were being built at Ford’s new plant in Basildon. “This was quite an experience for a country lad,” he explained. “Up to that point I hadn’t answered a telephone in my life!” Ian spent his childhood on various farms and has lived in the same smallholding since he was a teenager. “The…
