Phoebe is a young girl with big aspirations. She wants to be a firefighter! When she gets a new toy fire engine with pedals and a bell. It has everything but a hose. How's a firefighter supposed to save the day without a rolled-up fire hose? Why, use a roll of toilet paper, of course!
With her fire engine ready, Phoebe can now respond to emergencies. Unfortunately, whether it's burnt toast, spilled tea, or the smell of gas, her mom says, "Phoebe, it's not a real emergency." On top of that, Mom's not happy about toilet paper stretched throughout the house...until a real emergency arises.
When Phoebe answers Mom's call for help, she finds Mom is stuck on the toilet. "This is a real emergency!" says her mom. Luckily, Phoebe knows just what to do. She nudges a roll of toilet paper through the door, and Firefighter Phoebe saves the day!
Books about firefighters and shiny red fire engines are ever popular with children. However, young fans of these stories rarely see themselves in the role of firefighters, though they would delight to do so.
