POINT SHOOTING

Militaries around the world embraced the semi-auto handgun because when one was needed, things were at their grimmest. The six-or seven-shot revolver couldn’t be reloaded fast enough when the action was hot and close, and a fast reload nearly impossible with a revolver. Sights on fighting handguns back in those good ol’ days were very rudimentary requiring very sharp eyes, a lot of light and time when using them to make an accurate shot. At contact range in a mêlée, aiming was nearly impossible anyway, but fast firing and quick reloads a welcome advantage. The M1902 has the “fine” sights common then.
