Vuthas your people The isiZulu word vutha means ablaze or on fire. A fire vuthas – and so forth. It’s also synonymous with anger, sexiness, amazing skills or anything else English speakers use “blazing hot” for. My favourite use of vutha is to “fetch your people to back you up”. Maybe it’s just Jozi speak, but when you are in a tight spot, you vuthas your people. As a kid, my favourite person to vutha was my grandmother. Whenever the older kids would start trouble, I’d run home, screaming “GOGO!” uGogo would come out, with imvubu (sjambok) and all hell would break loose.
