1 CUT THE WOOD Cut pieces A-E using a table saw and miter saw. NOTE: If you can’t find ⅝-in. boards, use a planer or sander to reduce ¾-in. boards to ⅝ in., or build with ¾-in. boards, adjusting the dimensions as needed. 2 BUILD THE PANELS For the front panel, clamp together five slats (A) and secure a trim piece (B) at the top and bottom with wood glue and 18-gauge brad nails, making sure the slat ends are flush for a tight seam. Repeat to create the back panel. For each side panel, clamp six slats (A) and secure two side trim pieces (C) in the same way. 3 DRUM-SAND THE PANELS Run the panels through a drum sander to ensure that they are evenly thick (I took off only about 1/32 in.).
