My name is Jantira Namwong. I am an erotic photographer. I specialize in Asian women. I would like to share my journey of becoming an erotic photographer, and also, what eroticism means to me. Eroticism is not only about sexuality, it definitely includes sexuality, but in actuality it is deeper than sex. Just as you can have a highly erotic relationship without sex, you can equally have a sexual relationship without eroticism.
Eroticism makes us feel human, it brings us together so we become connected, and, like chemistry or electricity, it requires a certain atmosphere and charge in order for it to be effective. True eroticism transforms who we are on the inside. It is the experience of inner transformation that makes us erotic.
Like chasing the figure of the Greek goddess Diana through the woods, sometimes seeing her at a distance, sometimes close, but never holding her still within my gaze, photography has been a pursuit of studying the nature of eroticism through focusing on the mystery of the nude form of the female body. What is it about the female body that evokes eroticism? Why are women able to light up in a certain way when they turn on the erotic charm?
It is not just about the finished images that makes photography erotic; it is the entire process of photography, of the personal reasons for how and why I chose this subject matter, how and why it came into my life, to the personalities and experiences of the models who participate in the sessions, to the technical set-ups, to the editing and finished products, and, of course, to the unknown and future eyes of the audience who is there the whole time. We, together, are replicating and invoking an erotic field. The model becomes the embodiment of eroticism, while I feel like a priestess, by bringing eroticism alive.
The reason for this book is because I want to share through images and words what my photographic work means. I want my photography to be a window into understanding, not just eroticism, but how eroticism works to improve relationships between people. What does it mean to have a truly erotic relationship? It is not just about sex; it speaks to something deeper. Just as the model removes her clothes for the camera, an erotic relationship compels us to reveal who we are to another person to show our true nature, our thoughts, and our feelings. This involves risk ... courage ... strength ... and love.
These Black & White photos are all my sessions with 157 pages, all set up in artistic way of light and shadow also bring the feeling of eroticism inside Asian woman including my perspective content of Eroticism energy inside all of us as a human. I hope you like it.Thank you
