Sanabria y la Puebla de Sanabria son otro mundo. Ubicada en el noroeste de la península y de la provincia zamorana, en una tierra fronteriza en época medieval, la Puebla de Sanabria creció entre el arroyo Ferrera y los ríos Tera y Castro, configurando la especial fisionomía de espigón de la urbe, convirtiendo a la que fue sede del poder político, militar y eclesiástico durante siglos en inexpugnable. CULTURAS ANCESTRALES Tierras habitadas desde la Edad del Bronce, fue la tribu astur de los Zoelas quienes crearon los primeros asentamientos en el siglo IV a.C. Sus orígenes han quedado plasmados en el propio nombre de la Puebla de Sanabria, proveniente del vocablo “sen”, que significa “monte”, y la palabra celta “briga”, que significa fortificación, es decir “Castro en el Monte”.
