PARTS-FLAMBÉ Why would we take an oxy-acetylene torch to perfectly good parts? When painting engine parts, especially in cold and damp conditions, moisture can be a real challenge. A once-over with a torch will quickly take the chill off the part, and you will marvel at the moisture burning off what looks to be an already dry part. Moisture can seriously compromise paint adhesion, and the pre-heat will definitely speed drying time. The flame will also burn off surface contaminants like oily fingerprints and lint.
