PÅ MOBILSKÄRMEN SYNS indiemusikern Winona Oak, minst sagt gråtmild, sittandes i en bil med någon i famnen. Genom bilrutan skymtar landskapet utanför: kargt, sandfyllt, soligt, hett. ”I rescued my human” säger kopplet på den vit- och grålockiga vovve som nervöst men tryggt krupit upp i Winonas knä. Indiemusikern, och hennes blivande bästa vän, har när bilden tas bara känt varandra i en timme eller två, efter att Winona besökt ett hundhem i öknen utanför LA. Den där mobilbilden är nu tre år gammal – och den lurvigt vitgrå rescue-vovven Lilly, har precis lika länge varit precis lika oskiljaktiga. – Vi är soulmates.
