Sheibani tends to take inspiration not from the work of other jewelers, but from more esoteric sources. Her Cactaceae designs feature nubby yellow-gold lozenges that emulate desert cacti; each one, appropriately, has been given a Road Runner– esque Latin name such as impolitum roseum aurum (“unpol ished pink gold”). Equally exuberant are her cocktail rings, which riff on the rotational symmetry of traditionally cut stones, taking the form of tiny desserts— tourmaline blancmanges and cabochon cupcakes.
