Have you read the novel by Bram Stoker titled, Dracula? The answer is surely yes, however, if there are a few people that has not yet, a brief summary is warranted. A reminder might be necessary to those who have read it years prior.

Dracula is a gothic novel, which was published in the year 1897. The novel comprises of journal entries, letters, and telegrams written by the main characters. It begins with a young English lawyer, as he travels from England, to the faraway region in eastern Europe of Transylvania. The young lawyer plans to meet with Count Dracula, a client of his firm, in order to finalize the purchase of multiple property transactions in London, England. When he arrives in Transylvania, the locals react with terror and shock, after the lawyer discloses his destination as the Castle of Count Dracula.

This is how the novel begins, and grips the reader to continue on the interesting and exciting journey.

The old noble count from the novel, was based on the historical figure of Vlad the Impaler, who was from Wallachia, a vast mountainous area of Eastern Europe, owned by the Ottoman Empire.

Little is known about Vlad, and his close connection with the Ottoman Empire. Here, now, Vlad's life will be examined, his relationship with the mighty empire, and the empires ruler, Fatih Sultan Mehmet II, the conqueror of Istanbul.
