Art in the age of plastic The Art Students League of Denver didn’t set out to solve the world’s plastics problem, but its latest exhibition, “The Plasticene,” showcases the long-lasting material’s usefulness in works of art. Through a range of media including acrylic paint, nylon fabric, and 3D printing, the featured artists created sculptures, inflatables, and more to tell the story of plastics and get viewers thinking about their many uses. “Plastic has a varied and ubiquitous presence in our world and in art,” says Rachel Basye, executive director of the ASL. “’The Plasticene’ exhibition showcases just that.” Hours: 8 a.m.-7 p.m. M-Th; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Fri-Sun.
