Do you feel overwhelmed with the college admissions process?
Let me share some tips and tricks I learned throughout my journey.
During my college admissions journey, I encountered many difficulties and obstacles based mainly on the lack of resources and information available for first-generation Latinx students in the United States. While attending college, I was lucky enough to have worked in a career center that helped guide my search, and I had parents who had gone through the college process before; yet many of my friends were not so lucky and struggled to navigate the complex process that is the college admissions cycle. Moreover, many also had no support due to the language barrier because their parents did not speak English.
The goal and mission of this book are to help guide students like you and me through a process that can feel exclusionary, whether due to a language barrier or cultural differences, while also helping your parents have a basic understanding of the undergraduate admissions process. But in truth my hope is for this book to be able to help guide anybody and everybody through a process that may overwhelming or inaccessible. Even though some parents might not be able to play an active role in their child's admissions process, by reading this book, they can understand the complexity of the process and help their child as much as they can journey through the college admissions landscape.
