Agoa deal with South Africa left hanging in the balance

ANALYSTS are already predicting that the ejection of South Africa’s Ambassador to the United States, Ibrahim Rasool, could signal a deterioration in US-South Africa ties and raise questions about the stability of Agoa, an agreement that has provided significant economic benefits to South Africa for nearly two decades. It became another talking point and a concern for the SA government when US President Donald Trump upped the ante as part of a broader shift in foreign policy in falling out with Rasool who Trump while speaking at a think tank session in Washington.
