What to take and what not to take to Morocco

There is a mandatory equipment list for all Atlas Mountain Race participants. This includes a helmet, front and rear lights, basic first-aid kit, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, gloves, down jacket (or synthetic equivalent) and a sleeping bag suitable for temperatures down to freezing. Don’t worry about a tent. It’s predominantly dry in Morocco, plus the starlit skies are best enjoyed without a roof. A bivvy bag and a mat is all you’ll need. It can get quite chilly at night so a warm hat is a good idea. Water is pretty much non-existent in the mountains so make sure you have enough bottles and space to carry them.
