Which is why Stayer has created the UG ‘It may be backwards to how most brands are doing it, but we build our gravel bikes around 650b wheelsets first and foremost,’ says Stayer’s Sam Taylor. ‘So although the Groadinger UG happily takes 700c wheels, the geometry and clearances have all been designed around the higher-volume 650b tyre size.’ Taylor reasons that a smaller-diameter wheel provides the UG with a marginally lower centre of gravity for better stability.
