There has been a lot of significant news in recent months, the most notable of which was a report titled “The Next Generation of Watch Shoppers and Culture” by the Richemont Group-owned Watchfinder & Co. Although it did not state the sources of information or regions from which these consumers were, it gave some jaw-dropping insights (to me, at least). Today’s young watch collectors start from an early age (remember, the oldest Gen Zs are just 27 years old) with an average US$10,870 budget for a luxury watch. They buy 2.4 watches a year from the top luxury brands and support their budget through flipping or credit financing. They also often buy pre-owned timepieces and focus more on brand equity, design, and aesthetics when selecting a timepiece. It’s amazing what a difference…
