With many mountain wings now sporting some kind of leading edge stiffening, Neo have designed their String Pack hike-and-fly harness with an integrated concertina-packing bag. It is also a rucksack, so how have they managed all of this in a package that is only a smidge over a kilo? Clever design, that’s how. No extra bits, but nothing missing either. The ‘rucksack’ is not an entire rucksack. Rather an elasticated cover attached at the base stretches over the packed wing and tucks in around the top and sides. I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t stay put – but it does, even with poles attached to the clip-in loops. There’s a zipped pocket on the front, with plenty of room for gloves and snacks.
