Changes to the EN flight test for paragliders were introduced over the northern summer, including one that will automatically classify the glider EN D if folding lines are used in the test. We asked Randi Eriksen from test house Air Turquoise what the changes are, why they’ve been made, and what they mean to pilots. What are the changes? The major changes concern the spiral, front collapse, asymmetric collapse and whether the glider is tested using folding lines or not. Spiral dive In the old test we used to test two types of spiral, including testing a ‘14m/s’ spiral.
