homing-in: RDF in the Rockies: The 2015 USA ARDF Championships

USA’s 15th annual championships of Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF) has drawn the greatest participation ever. Beautiful forests and ideal weather in a central state proved to be a magnet for fans of on-foot, hidden-transmitter hunting under International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) rules. I had just announced that Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch (PVSR) would be this year’s site when e-mails started pouring in, wanting to know when registration would open. As I explained in my last column1, I discovered this Scouting gem when Marvin Johnston, KE6HTS, and I put on a transmitter hunting activity for the Western Region Venturing Youth Extravaganza at PVSR’s Camp Cris Dobbins last year.
