APRÈS DES ANNÉES PASSÉES À MILAN CHEZ DE GRANDS ÉDITEURS, HUUB UBBENS CHOISIT MONTPELLIER. IL DÉCIDE ALORS DE PARTAGER UN BUREAU DANS UN ANCIEN APPARTEMENT DU XIXE SIÈCLE, RESTÉ MIRACULEUSEMENT DANS SA VERSION ORIGINELLE, ENTRE VITRAUX ET BOISERIES. PARALLÈLEMENT À LA FONDATION DU COLLECTIF INDIGO D’OC, IL PRATIQUE UN DESIGN QUI RÉPART LA NATURE, CONCEVANT DU MOBILIER À PARTIR DE BRANCHES ÉLAGUÉES EMPÊCHANT À LA CROISSANCE DE L’ARBRE.

NOUVELLE APPROCHE Parallèlement à son travail appliqué aux marques, Huub Ubbens aborde la notion encore très nouvelle de design réparateur. Pionnier en cette matière qui engage la création dans une démarche qui soigne la planète, il travaille à partir de bois d’élagage. En collaboration avec l’atelier de meubles écologiques Chatersen d’Arnaud Mainardi, installé dans les Cévennes, il dessine un tabouret à partir des branches coupées d’un châtaignier. Il prépare aussi avec le collectif Indigo d’Oc la prochaine Design Week. On y retrouve des designers engagés dans des solutions écologiques, tel le duo Mr. & Mr. qui pratique le surcyclage de papier bulle pour un banc millefeuille. HUUB UBBENS DESIGNER Son tabouret, encore à l’état de prototype, sera commercialisé par les Ateliers Chatersen au printemps 2022.…
