En 1920, la décoration prend les murs d’assaut: l’engouement pour le papier peint est à son comble. Gaufré, doré, jouant avec les motifs Art déco, imitant l’exubérance végétale, la dentelle, la soie ou le cuir de Cordoue, le papier peint affirme l’identité de chaque intérieur, même modeste. Intuitif, Marius Sériès fonde EMS Le Papier Peint sur La Canebière, et devient l’un des principaux grossistes à la ronde. Quatre générations plus tard, Sériès Décoration, transféré rue Breteuil, s’est diversifié et transformé en un showroom ouvert au public, repaire de tous les architectes et décorateurs de la région. Début 2021, pour ses 101 ans, la vieille dame s’offre un coup de jeune: elle devient Maison Sériès, tandis que Jean-Noël passe le flambeau à ses neveux, Amélie, Nicolas et Clémentine.
