Cosmo's mom works at her family business, selling funnel cakes at their booth at the state fair. Cosmo thinks it's the coolest job ever and wants to be part of the family tradition, too, but he's too young to do things like fry the batter in hot oil. So he looks for help from his friend, Lily, the fair's magician. The two kids look about to see how a kid can help out, going through all the jobs in the business and learning powerful tips like "Help Your Team."
Realizing these "adult" jobs won't work for him, Cosmo comes up with an idea to make funnel cakes fly and a new family tradition is born.
With clever rhymes and painterly illustrations, this playful and nostalgic story is a perfect read-aloud for families and educators of young children. This fun read aloud includes a learning objective at the end of the story and teaches children about a family business, chipping in and doing their part for the business, teamwork, how to deal with stress and a physics lesson in a magic trick with the spinning plate prop.
