Conventional lighting – from form to function – is being given a complete overhaul. This is undoubtedly the year of the shape, and the more adventurous the approach to design, materiality and illumination, the better. Memphis-style lighting still holds a fair amount of market share, pushing the envelope in terms of expectations: there’s no design too daring, with graphic forms and almost childlike use of colour blocking dominating.
