Complete Scale and Chord Theory for Guitar is a reference book for intermediate and advanced players. The book consists of three sections; Scales, Chords and Exercises The Scale section shows how to use the Major Scale to learn music theory in terms of the guitar fretboard. Scales covered include all the Modes of the Major Scale, as well as the Harmonic Minor, Diminished, Whole Tone, Augmented and Melodic Minor scales. The section concludes with a Scale Use Summary listing the various chords and the scales that can be used to solo over them The Chord Section contains sections on Diminished and Augmented chords, Blues and ii V I progressions, the Cycle of 4ths, a practice routine for jazz songs, guidelines for creating Chord Melodies, root position chords in the Major, Minor and Dominant families and triad and extended chord inversions. The third section contains patterns for practicing the various scales and arpeggios, riffs and patterns for ii V I progressions, ear training exercises, and sections on modulations, alternate tunings, structure and cadences.
